Cisco Systems, a major US technology company, is believed to be the target of a significant cybersecurity breach. The notorious hacking and extortion group ShinyHunters claims to have obtained more than 3 million Salesforce records holding personally identifiable information (PII), along with GitHub repositories, AWS buckets, and sensitive corporate assets. On March 31st, the group published extortion demands directed at Cisco, warning of “several annoying digital problems” if their ultimatum was not satisfied by April 3rd. ShinyHunters stated the stolen data originates from three incidents: voice phishing (UNC6040), Salesforce Aura, and compromised AWS accounts. Two screenshots were included as evidence.
